One person. One car at a time. I started Bonsai Detailing as a CU Boulder student in 2023 because I wanted to do this the right way — with professional products, real attention, and no shortcuts.
The Story
How it started
I started Bonsai Detailing in 2023 while studying at CU Boulder. I'd been doing cars for friends and neighbors and realized pretty quickly that most detailers around here were either doing volume work at a shop or charging premium prices for average results. I wanted to do something different.
Mobile was the obvious call. No drop-off, no waiting room, no leaving your car somewhere overnight. I come to your driveway, your parking lot, wherever works for you. You don't rearrange your day around me — that's the whole point.
I keep my schedule intentionally light. Your car is the only one I'm working on that day. That's not a marketing line — it's literally how I run the business. When I'm on your car, I'm on your car. I'm not trying to move on to the next job.
The products matter to me. For ceramic coating, I use CarPro CQuartz UK 3.0 for the 2-year tier and Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light for the 5-year. Both are professional-grade coatings used by detailers who take this seriously. I chose them because the prep requirements are strict — they force you to do the job right — and the results back it up.
The same logic applies to everything else. Professional clay bars, machine polishers, proper decontamination before anything protective goes on. If I'm going to put a coating on your car, the paint underneath needs to be clean and corrected first. Otherwise you're just sealing in problems.
I'm not trying to be the cheapest option in Boulder. I'm trying to be the best one.
